New Bed!

Addison is now sleeping in her toddler bed...YEAH! She loves getting in and out of it on her own. We are trying to get her to soothe herself to sleep, so last night Kurtis and I took her into her bedroom and watched as she got into her bed. We pulled her new Big Girl sheets up for her, and gave her a sippy of milk. We then read her a book that she had pulled out of her bookshelf (the man and his dump truck). When she was done with her drink I turned her over to pat her bottom. She did not do so good with us in there. She wanted to play or climb in our laps or get rocked to sleep by us. So after a while of restless trying, we both gave her a kiss, told her good night, tucked her into bed, and walked out of the room shutting the door behind us. She cried for a total of 2 minutes and then, as we watched on the monitor, she put herself to sleep. She did it, YEAH!!!! I have to say those two minutes of just letting her cry were the worst two minutes of a mommy's life. All I wanted to do was go in there and rip open that door and hold her, but I stood my ground! She is growing up so fast! Next thing we know she will be telling us goodnight on the phone because she is in a college dorm somewhere. *sniff~sniff* I am so proud of her. She's growing from a baby into a little girl right in front of our eyes! Her first milestone was She stared crawling, now she's walking, She does not take a bottle any more, and now she is sleeping in her big girl bed! I am so proud to be her mother. She is the most amazingly smart little girl, and I could not have asked for anything more! Thank you God for this wonderful gift!
